| | | Most of our guides have been with us for years (some more than 20!) and they truly set the standard for excellent guiding experience, training and local knowledge about the areas they guide in. All are licensed raft guides and certified canoe instructors according to the licensure bodies in each of our 4 jurisdictions. Both our whitewater rafting and white water canoe guides are certified in wilderness first aid and swiftwater rescue and we employ a demanding in-house training and mentorship program. We consider ourselves very lucky at Nahanni River Adventures and Canadian River Expeditions to be able to handpick our guides as there is strong demand among guides to work on our northern rivers. We employ 50 guides each year who guide typically one to five trips for us per year and are considered leaders in the field of wilderness guiding. Hard working, qualified, well trained, knowledgeable and most importantly – fun to be with, all are hallmarks of our wilderness and whitewater guides. What do these folks do when not guiding on northern rivers? Their list of occupations is as long as the list of guides. Some will guide in the southern hemisphere, some are alpine and ski guides, others are professors, teachers, carpenters, dentists, paramedics, researchers, dog mushers, log home builders, school principles or ski patrollers.
